Community Health Roles

Community health staff are trusted and known to the public. They conduct clinics and educational programs, collect data, and advocate for the needs of their community.  Additionally, there is a specific Community Health Workers career path with associated degree and credentials. With skills in capacity building and outreach, community health staff offer programs that reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of the communities they support. Someone who is motivated by health equity and is comfortable being public facing would thrive in this role.  
 

Skills, Education, and Experience 

Community health staff are often hired from community-based health programs and organizations which equip graduates with relevant and formal skills. Interning or completing a practicum at a local health department or community-based organization may help with being hired.
