Overview

The Town of Plymouth seeks applicants for the position of Part-time Regional Food and Restaurant Inspector for the Southern Plymouth County Public Health Excellence Collaborative which services the following towns: Carver, Duxbury, Kingston, Plymouth, Plympton, and Wareham. This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible, grant funded position. Salary range: $32.00 to $37.00 per hour, 19 hours per week.
 

About Us

The SPCPHEC is a coalition of six towns operating as a Shared Services Arrangement (SSA) under the Massachusetts Public Health Excellence (PHE) grant program. Funding is currently guaranteed through June 30, 2027.

Job Summary

The Collaborative is seeking a part time Regional Public Health Food Inspector to perform inspection and investigatory work pertaining to the enforcement of the MA State sanitary code for the minimum sanitation standards for food establishments. 

Statement of Duties

Inspectional and technical work in the office and in the field as it relates to the interpretation and enforcement of the State Food Code. 

  • Enforces all Massachusetts State Health Codes and local laws and regulations pertaining to public health and safety.
  • Inspects, licenses, and regulates food service establishments, food marts/mobile vendors, school cafeterias, day care centers, nursing homes, food distribution programs, retail food stores and special events.  
  • Develops, promotes and implements all food protection programs to ensure the protection of health and the control of disease within the six towns of the Collaborative.


Education and Experience


Associate or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Restaurant Management, Food Service or Culinary Degree or a related field, with a minimum of two years of related experience in the field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
