Summary

Are you ready to lead public health innovation from the ground up? The Towns of Shrewsbury, Grafton, and West Boylston have come together to launch a brand-new Regional Public Health Alliance, and we're seeking a mission-driven Public Health Nurse to join this inaugural team. This is a unique, high-impact opportunity to be on the frontlines of a collaborative regional effort focused on protecting and improving community health. In this role, you'll play a critical part in preventing disease, promoting wellness, and responding to emerging health threats, all while contributing to data-informed strategies and long-term public health policy. From day one, you'll work alongside a passionate, cross-community team, helping to shape public health strategy across multiple towns. You'll gain hands-on experience in health education, epidemiology, and emergency preparedness, and have the opportunity to directly influence programs that matter. Most importantly, your work will help drive meaningful improvements in public health outcomes and promote health equity throughout Central Massachusetts.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead disease surveillance, case investigations, and contact tracing using tools like MAVEN
  • Analyze and present epidemiological data to guide real-time responses and long-term planning
  • Provide direct services (immunizations, screenings, and health counseling) to residents of all ages
  • Educate schools, long-term care facilities, and the public on everything from flu prevention to chronic disease management
  • Collaborate with municipal departments, healthcare providers, and state agencies to create seamless public health responses
  • Step up in emergencies, help implement response plans and coordinate vaccination or prophylaxis clinics
  • Support grant initiatives and help secure resources that sustain and expand our programs
  • Create public health dashboards and reports that keep stakeholders informed and engaged

 Who You Are:

  • A Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts with a BSN (required); MPH, MSN, or relevant master’s preferred
  • Experienced—4+ years in public health, infectious disease, or community-based care
  • Data-literate and comfortable using public health surveillance tools, including MAVEN
  • A confident communicator and compassionate caregiver
  • Passionate about health equity, collaboration, and community impact
  • Adaptable, organized, and ready to respond to both routine health needs and urgent crises
  • Comfortable traveling across the Alliance’s communities as needed
